Train Together, Remain Together

Posted by The Edge Fitness Clubs on May 7, 2021

Research shows that there are in fact benefits from working out together! These benefits include more efficient workouts, happier relationships with your workout partner, & a higher likelihood of achieving your fitness goals. The mere presence of someone else affects your ability to do an activity. Even if you already feel competent doing a particular exercise, bringing along a partner, friend, or family member is a sure way to boost your energy output. And let's face it, working out is simply more fun with someone by our side! We love when members submit inspiring stories with their workout buddies! This one came in just in time for Mother's Day!

"I am Sue Jerue, mom to Emma and Max.  We are all members of the Orange, CT Edge and have made our very own stakes at the gym with what we enjoy. I am part of the personal training program and I participate in many Group X and Edge Strong Classes. I enjoy working out with my daughter when she’s not working out with her friends. We usually complete a strength circuit together. Emma is a gymnast for the last 16 years and I’ve always admired her dedication and drive.

My photo-shy son goes heavy with squatting, we may not work out together but it’s just nice knowing he’s there when I am. He went off to college and chose fitness as his recreation on campus and hasn’t stopped since graduating. He came up with his own very successful program he follows. My children both inspire me. They have been in tune with fitness since a much younger age than I ever was. I started my own journey about 9 years ago. I’ve managed to lose over 100 pounds on my own, so I’d like to think my children admire me in that. It’s just something we have in common and we all love our programs. We all inspire each other; it’s very motivating. There may even be a little bit of fun strength teasing at times, a competitive edge once in a while is a good thing!

I refer to the Edge as my happy place. The front end staff are super friendly and always welcome me in and see me out. The entire personal training staff are super talented and dedicated folks. And of course the countless friends I’ve made are all amazing individuals with their own unique stories." - Sue
