Between school pick ups and drop offs, working full or part-time, taking care of your house, and feeding your family healthy meals, it’s hard to make time for yourself regularly. Add to your load sick kids, deadlines, get togethers with friends, and it makes for consistent workouts almost impossible.
Sure, you always feel great after your workout. It’s getting there that often proves to be challenging. And it’s so easy to find an excuse not to go when you just don’t feel like it.
It’s going to be extra hard to find motivation when you’re dressing in that ratty sports bra and those pants that slide down when you run. Treat yourself to a new workout fit once a month. Chances are, you’ll want to wear them immediately and get your workout on.
2. Enlist a fit friendScheduling a consistent workout date with a friend who will always show up, ensures that you show up too. Fit friends can push you to do more than you would on your own and will keep you accountable to keep working out consistently.
You can have healthy competition with people you don’t even know. Try to outrun the person next to you on the treadmill or have the biggest round kick in kickboxing. Even if you aren’t competitive, aiming for little victories like this can give you a mental and physical boost.
If you always do the same workout, you are going to get the same results and eventually get bored. Switch it up by trying a group exercise class or working with a personal trainer.
Think of why you really want to get consistent workouts. Sure, you probably want to stay trimmed and toned, but what are the deeper reasons? Do you want to raise an active family in a healthy lifestyle? Do you have more energy and are a better mom when you consistently take care of yourself? We are betting yes!
It’s not likely that the motivation will just come to you one day. You need to find your reasons and cultivate your motivation. The more often you get consistent workouts in, the more likely your motivation will stick around. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.
