The Benefits of Doing Fitness with Friends

Posted by The Edge Fitness Clubs on January 5, 2019

You know that exercise is good for you. But did you know that it’s better to workout with a friend? Doing fitness as part of a group gives you an extra boost and gives you more health benefits than if you were going at it alone.

Benefits of team training

Team or group training can take many forms: meeting a buddy at the gym, taking a group fitness class, or working out as part of a team in a small class or group challenge. No matter what it looks like for you, it offers more benefits than working out solo. Here are a few.

Challenge: Do you have a competitive side to you? Team training allows you to secretly be a one upper with other gym goers. See someone lifting more than you? Match them. See that older member going faster than you? Beat them! By working out as a part of a group, you’re less likely to slow down or quit your workout and you’re more likely to up the ante, meaning you just upped your fitness.

Accountability: Ever feel like skipping the gym or just coming for an easy workout? We’ve all been there. Working out as part of a group means you’re less likely to skip workouts though. And since you already made it through the doors, you’re likely to stay and get in a good workout too. That’s the kind of accountability you need.

Simple: After a long workday, save your brain power and let us do the work for you. In group classes and team training, the workouts are designed and taught by personal trainers so all you have to do is show up and sweat. We also change the workouts as needed so you’ll avoid getting bored and hitting plateaus.
