Hi, my name is Tim, and I am a Personal Trainer at The Edge Fitness Clubs in Hamden CT. My fitness journey was unlike most professionals in this industry, as I started out as a severely morbidly obese young man. In 2014 I decided it was time to make a change, I could not comfortably sit in one airplane seat at 430 pounds and was embarrassed beyond belief.
Over the next 4 years I worked out on and off again at The Meriden Edge Fitness Clubs, where at times I was able to lose 15-20 pounds then immediately gain it back again through lack of discipline. In December of 2018 I ran into my old high school football coach who was taking part in this thing called The Edge Challenge. He then invited me to take part in the challenge with him and his trainer Michelle! The weight loss almost seemed like an added reward for showing up everyday and doing the work with my team.
Over the next year I proceeded to take part in 3 more Edge Challenges, where I eventually ended up winning one in November of 2019 with Andrew Strongin my current personal trainer from the Meriden Edge. After training with Andrew for a few months, the seed was planted in my head that this could be a possible career for me. Why can’t I pay forward the help Michelle and Andrew gave me to other people starting their fitness journeys?
So, I started taking the necessary steps to transition from a successful career in Information Technology to Personal Training. I began studying and eventually was given the opportunity to prove myself at the Hamden Edge last year when they had openings for Personal Trainers in August. Over the past 5 months I have had the pleasure of working with so many inspiring clients who have touched my life in ways I could never have imagined.
I am so proud of my accomplishments in my own personal journey, but I could not imagine the feeling of pride I get when a client hits their goal and tears rush to their eyes. When someone looks me in the eyes and says they are ready to finally make a change I get no greater satisfaction. Once you find the discipline to take the first step and change your life, just trust the process and you will hit your goal.
A special thanks to The Edge in Meriden for altering the course of my life forever. I cannot wait to do the same for someone else at my new home in Hamden.
