This year has been a roller coaster. I’ve had highs and lows. Happy times and tragic times. I’ve stayed the course and I’ve fallen off track a bit. But through it all, one of my constants has always been The Edge and my push to become the best version of myself. I’ll always use the photo on the right as my before picture because sometimes when I struggle, I need to be reminded of just how far I’ve come.
After each Edge Challenge I’ve taken to social media to commend and recognize the amazing people at The Edge in Orange,CT. This time is no different. My growth, my mindset, and my success wouldn’t have been possible if there wasn’t a never ending commitment from the trainers, employees, and management at The Edge. I’ve learned my journey is about consistency, creating a lifestyle (not diet), and recognizing that you won’t always have perfect days-and that’s okay. The Edge Orange also has an amazing group of men and women who challenge each other, push each other, and cheer each other on, week after week; month after month. One year and four challenges later-I can finally say I am exactly where I need to be and am comfortable in my path of a healthier and happier version of myself. I’ve always looked happy, but I would mask my sadness behind the smile. No more hiding. The weight of my emotions was almost as heavy as my physical weight. Now my emotions and smiles are real and they’re raw. And what’s more, they’re genuine. No more 300+ pounds. No more 200+ pounds. And no more weight on my shoulders.
In addition, I needed to reach out to corporate to help resolve a sensitive matter. Without hesitation, Aileen reached out and was gracious and kind in helping answer my questions. What this has shown is regardless if it’s a member or corporate or someone who greets you daily at arrival, The Edge has become a home away from home and everyone in it is family. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels like a valuable member of its community.
