So my weight loss journey is a long and windy road, with lots of ups and downs (thankfully pounds!). I have been overweight all my life, and more so after having 4 kids. It was always harder for me to enjoy activities with them, but I managed as best as I could.
I lost my mom on November 27, 2019 due to complications of her being overweight. It was then that I realized my kids could lose me, too if I didn't make serious changes in my life.
I had a routine medical procedure planned for January 2018, that required me fasting for 2.5 days, so I used that as a starting platform. I lost 15 lbs, just by changing my diet, and decided it was time to take advantage of my Edge membership my daughters forced me to get months earlier.
When I had my fitness assessment, I set a goal weight for summer 2019. I knew it was going to be hard, but I was determined to get there. I couldn't afford a personal trainer, but was able to join The Edge Challenge and came in third place, even with a bad knee injury! I did multiple Edge Challenges, tried new classes and kept pushing myself outside my comfort zone.
This past summer, I signed up for The Edge Challenge with Personal Trainer, Therese Jositas. My younger daughter recently left for the Army, and know what training she was doing there, my new goal was to dedicate this Challenge to her, and to hopefully reach my weight-loss goal by the end of the 8 weeks, around the same time she was graduating from her training.
Therese always gave me positive words of encouragement, and pushed me to try new things. With her continued guidance and persistence, I managed to place FIRST in the Shelton Edge Challenge! WHAT? I came 3 lbs within my goal weight, and couldn't have had this much success without Therese by my side.
My new goal is to pursue a career at the Edge in some capacity, to help others like so many caring people who have helped me along the way.
