Becca came into my life as a new client post-shutdown in 2020. We had never interacted before, but I always noticed her hard work and general good energy during her sessions. Once I learned her trainer would not be returning, I really wanted to take it upon myself to see her continue her journey and keep progressing. I always have a good eye for people with unrealized potential who could use my guidance and coaching. I was not letting this one fall back.
Over the next few months, we focused on the basic principles: strength train, build muscle, fix her nutrition and lifestyle habits. She committed right from the start. As the body-fat melted off, the lift numbers spiked through the roof. I’ll let the pictures speak for the physical results.
The most rewarding and fun part of the journey for me has been watching her transform into a more confident version of herself. This was the part of my own fitness journey and struggles that I value most, and what I want all my clients to experience and feel the benefits of. She’s become pretty famous and popular among my own clients and gym members. Becca is the type of client that makes a trainer wake up at 4am and feel GRATEFUL every single day for the opportunity to train clients.
THANK YOU for letting me guide you and be part of this inspirational journey. Hoping more people see this and take a chance on themselves. You only get one life and one body. Take care of it.
I asked Becca to write about her own journey. I’ll let her take it from here:
“Three years ago I was scrolling on Facebook and saw someone sharing her progress photos from personal training with Arek at The Edge. I was both impressed and inspired and signed up for personal training at The Edge in Orange later that day. Little did I know this would have been one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I began with my trainer and she was great. I was losing weight and people were noticing how different I looked. I was measuring my progress by how much weight I was losing. I was under-eating one day and then overeating the next. I was drinking slim fast shakes instead of meals and knew nothing about tracking food. I was terrified to go to the gym to do anything other than cardio and the thought of taking a strong class was terrifying as well. But I was losing weight so I must be doing it right.
Then Covid happened and the gyms shut down. My trainer did not return and I wasn’t sure if I would continue on with training. Until I received a long text message from a trainer who wanted to work together. This was my first interaction with Arek, and this is when my fitness journey really began.
I started taking supplements consistently, tracking food and hitting protein goals. I also slowly began lifting weights on my own in the women’s room which was huge. Eventually I was lifting weights more days than not and realized I’m actually strong. With the support of my friend, I made my way out of the women's room to the main floor of the gym where I gained confidence as well as continued to get stronger. I was gaining muscle that I could actually notice and didn't care about how much weight I was losing. I was feeling better than I ever had and actually loved the gym more than I ever thought I would.
None of this would have been possible without the endless support of my trainer. He is endlessly motivational and supportive as well as knowledgeable. He gives his all to his clients and doesn't get frustrated with me when I whine about split squats or landmine rows. And despite my face on his instagram stories I am so thankful I get to work with Arek. Arek was the one who trained the girl whose facebook post inspired me to sign up for training and here we are two years later. I have come so much further than I ever thought I would and have even further to go. I am thankful for my first trainer Roza who got me started, the Total Fitness Studio private room, without which I never would have gotten out on the main floor, and of course Arek who never lets me give up and brings so much joy to my life. Mostly I am thankful I stuck with this and fell in love with the process. The best compliment I have received since starting this fitness journey had nothing to do with physical appearance or weight but rather was when I was told 'you look so happy.' This is a journey I will continue on for the rest of my life and I can’t wait to see what I accomplish next.” -Becca, Edge Member
