Time to dust off those suitcases, because summer vacation is here! You've patiently waited all year long for a trip full of rest and relaxation. Going on vacation, however, doesn't have to mean putting your fitness goals on pause. Below are five achievable ways to keep active on vacation!
- Go for a scenic run or walk. The best way to see new sights and burn a few extra calories is by going on foot! Walking allows for a more close-up experience of a place, compared to driving. Ask your concierge for a walking map or book a walking tour and you're guaranteed a fun combination of exercise and adventure.
- Utilize the hotel gym. Before you leave for vacation, check in with your trainer and let them know the details of your trip. Through our Edge app, your trainer can prepare a personalized workout and meal plan for you to stay on track while you're away. When booking a hotel, you can check first to make sure that where you're staying has a gym included. The hotel gym, just an elevator ride away from your room, is the most convenient way to stay on track with your fitness routine.
- Plan out meals beforehand. We understand that with vacation comes great food, drinks, and desserts. You can research different restaurant menus in advance and build your eating plan for the trip correspondingly. Keep high-protein snacks with you, such as jerky or trail mix, and this will leave you feeling full and energized throughout the day.
- Plan active excursions. The best way to stay active is to plan events on your trip that require a lot of movement. For example, hiking, swimming, and biking are all enjoyable activities that also include exercise and get you to interact with a new environment.
- Sign up for Total Access +. For those who enjoy classes, the Total Access + feature allows you to follow along with classes. Total Access + is a feature for select membership plans that gives members access to both live and on-demand workout classes streamed right to your phone or computer anywhere you are.
Keep in mind that your workout routine will be different than usual while on vacation. Sticking to your fitness goals is great, and you're also allowed to enjoy your vacation experience by doing what feels best for you and your body.
