At The Edge, our goal is to help our members achieve their personal best! Our Edge Challenge is an 8-week weight loss contest designed to provide lasting fitness results. With one-on-one personal training, tailored nutritional programs, and team training, our members will achieve their fitness goals! We've seen so many success stories throughout the years with The Edge Challenge. Check out Carol's story below & how she lost 20 pounds in 8 weeks!
"I am a 'senior' who has battled with the scale since childhood. As years went on, like many others I tried everything. I knew what to do but never seemed to be able to put a wellness package together that included good nutrition and exercise. I love running, and so I began to run more and more, but I found I was running more miles but not losing weight. I was packing on the miles but not seeing any changes in my weight. Essentially, I was running so I could eat more, rather than eating nutritiously so I could run. Hence, I joined the Edge, and I wanted to have a trainer who could guide me through a 'transformation', and learn to change mindset.
I met with Therese Jositas, a 'no nonsense' master trainer. We sat down and discussed my goals, and my challenges. Initially, I didn’t lose weight, but I was becoming stronger. After a few weeks we sat down again, and discussed my nutrition, and then it clicked. My mindset needed to change, or I would be in the same place. 'running to eat more'!
Therese monitored my nutrition closely, and sent me notes when I needed to adjust. Then things began to change- weight began to go down, muscle mass increased, body fat disappearing. That is only the physical stuff, my mindset was changing, my self-esteem and confidence were strong.
The next phase was the Edge Challenge. Therese encouraged me to enter it, and I did not feel I had a chance. I looked at others in the gym and put some self-doubt into my head. She continued to coach me, and I not only succeeded during the challenge, I won it. I lost 20 lbs, and my body fat decreased by 20 points. During that phase I was focused. I went on 2 vacations one in Europe and the other a cruise. I did not deny myself food, but I closely monitored my nutrition and exercised throughout the vacations.
The bottom line…if you want something bad enough and work hard enough you can be successful. Above all, having a personal trainer who can guide you, encourage you, and give you that kick in the butt when you need it, is the key to success. It is the partnership that you create. I am hoping for another win in this Fall 2024 challenge. The field is large, but with my conviction, and the guidance of one of the best trainers, I am hoping I will prevail." -Carol, Edge Challenge Participant
