Strong Dads Start Here

In honor of Father’s Day, we're featuring 5 dads who have truly shown their kids what it means to be #EdgeStrong.  Each of these dads are part of a Personal Training Program at The Edge Fitness Clubs, and are  working to keep up with their kids' active lifestyles. These dads have put the hard work in and have become better versions of themselves for their families. Amazing job!

Jimmy Murray- Warwick, RI

Jimmy is a single dad who is also busy with real estate but has made the time to be able to get his workouts in! He has gotten stronger and leaner, but most importantly has gained more energy to play with his young son. He has persevered and is now reaping the benefits of his hard work!

"Being a good role model is the most important job for a dad. Whether it's about being kind, working hard, eating healthy, or staying fit. I struggled with the latter two for a long time before I started working out with Courtney.

As a former high-school athlete, Courtney designed workouts for me that involved more athletic movements. These kept me more engaged and always wanting to try more. She also completely changed the way I looked at food and exercise. Instead of working out as a 'punishment' for what I ate, she focused my diet on foods that would help me grow muscle and allow my body to recover from workouts.

Now, as my kids see their dad stronger than ever, they also want to eat healthier (they still hate broccoli though) and be more active so they can become better athletes themselves. I am so grateful for everything Courtney has done to help me and whole family become healthier and stronger!”

"They say what you put into it is what you get out of it! This is so true in life, sports, working out, and definitely parenting. I am a proud father of two young adult boys who mean the world to me. I’ve lost both my parents due to health complications and other reasons years ago. I do not want to put my own kids through that. So, I take it upon myself to be the best dad, and be here for them mentally, emotionally and support them when they need it!
When my two boys came into this world, I made it my mission in life to be as healthy as I can be. Ashley Prokopec, my personal trainer from The Edge in Naperville has really made that possible. I have had many personal trainers over the years but Ashley has really shown me what I am capable of!
My kids see me crushing my goals and often ask how am I doing it at age 50. My response is positive mindset, hard work and dedication! I want my kids to crush their goals! Hopefully I am leading by example. Working out with Ashley has definitely been one of the best experiences ever! Thank you, Ashley!"

"I’m so glad that I chose to work out! Working out has become such a great therapy for my mental, physical an emotional health! Having the opportunity to train with Rachel has made me such a better person on the inside and out! But most importantly it has made me a better father! I love my children so much, and I want to be the best I can be for them, day in an day out! So the better I am for me, the better I am for them! Happy Father’s Day to all the dads killing it out there!”

"I've never felt more welcome and more comfortable than I do at The Edge. With the expertise of Matt, I have built strength and stamina to keep up with my son, all while losing over 30 lbs.  He has always had an active lifestyle, so being able to enjoy working out with him means a lot."
